Greetings, readers & friends!  I have some exciting news to share. My book, How Languages Saved Me: A Polish Story of Survival, earned First Place in two categories of the 2019 Royal Dragonfly Book Awards: Historical Nonfiction and Biography/Memoir/Autobiography. It’s been a fun month of engaging in interview conversations about my grandfather’s life story.  I especially enjoyed the video podcast interviews with Gina Farrar (@FeminineRoadmap) and Rebecca Huff (@ThatOrganicMom). Special thanks to the Polish American Journal and Pol-Am Eagle newspaper for featuring my book as well.

As we approach the holidays, one of my favorite Polish traditions that I look forward to every year is the sharing of the opłatek (Christmas wafer) on Christmas Eve. Each member of the family breaks off a piece and wishes each other family member something for the new year ahead. Below (right) is a photo of my grandfather offering the opłatek to my mother, on one of our last Christmases with them.

If anyone you know would like a copy of the E-BOOK version of my book to read on Kindle, Nook, etc., it’s now available for just 99 CENTS for the next 4 days on Amazon or Barnes & Noble! This offer expires at 11:59 pm on Thursday, December 19.

From my family to yours, Wesołych Świąt! (Merry Christmas!)

Stefanie
